Assignment Name: Proposed Works at UBL Recycling Plant Namanve: Proposed Floor Repairs in the Production Area.
Location: Namanve
Client: Uganda Batteries Limited
Brief Description of Works Performed
The floor in the Production Area (13.6 x 22.5m) was damaged by the corrosive action of lead. Because of the damages and given the fact that the floor was relatively flat, water tended to log in certain areas of the floor.
Demolition Works: Hacked the existing concrete floor up to a depth of about 200mm and cart away the debris using both manually and mechanically using concrete breakers and excavator.
Concrete works: Cast 200mm thick concrete with water proof cement and hardeners laid to falls towards the drainage channel on one side of the production room.
Internal Floor Finishes: Lay Fire Bricks well bonded with cement and sand mortar, at the area next to the smelter (6m x 12m) where hot smolten lead from the Smelter is placed to cool down with the rest of the floor being a Power float concrete floor.
Drainage Works: Constructed a Concrete drainage channel 300mm wide and 300mm deep along the wall on one side to drain waste water to the treatment plan.
Placed a heavy duty 200mm PVC Gentex pipe (8'' - PN10) cut in half longitudinally in the drainage channel well encased in concrete to prevent corrosion of the drain.
